U16 Broken Bay Girls Rugby League
Our U16 Broken Bay Girl’s Rugby League side travelled to The Ponds Stadium earlier this term where they combined with students from CGSSSA to trial against Parramatta Diocese for selection into the NSW Catholic Metropolitan side.
What a learning experience to play on the unfamiliar terrain of synthetic fields.
The girls all showed great teamwork and determination in defence with some excellent tackling to slow the opposition down.
Guided by Coach, Vince Tavernese, form St Leos Catholic College (Wahroonga) the girls maintained a strong formation in attack; led admirably by our halves, the middle pack made ground against the strong Parramatta defence and spread the ball wide to make the most of the speed and agility of our outside backs.
All of the players yesterday represented the diocese with pride and should be very proud of their efforts; we look forward to witnessing their continued growth. There are some really strong players coming through and the future of girl’s footy in Broken Bay looks bright.
Congratulations to the players who were named in the NSWCCC Metropolitan Side and competed at the NSWCCC trials –
