NSW Netball Success

Selection in the NSW 15 Years Girls Netball Team is a remarkable achievement, and student Sophia Cottrell from Mercy Catholic College Chatswood has enjoyed an outstanding representative season on her journey to State honours.

After first earning selection in the Broken Bay Team, followed by the NSW Catholic Combined Colleges (CCC) Team, Sophia successfully secured a place in the NSW 15 Years Girls Team. The achievement is particularly significant given the depth of talent in the mid-court positions, with strong competition at every stage of the representative pathway.

Sophia recently travelled to Melbourne to compete at the All Schools Netball Championships, representing NSW against some of the best school-aged netballers from across Australia. Throughout the tournament, she consistently demonstrated skill, determination and composure, making a valuable contribution to her team's success.

The NSW team progressed through the competition to reach the Gold Medal Match, where they faced a strong Queensland side in a thrilling grand final. In a closely contested and exciting finish, NSW emerged victorious, claiming the title with a 30-28 win and securing the gold medal.

Sophia's performances throughout the championship reflected her growing confidence, strong teamwork and commitment to excellence. Her contribution to the team's success on the national stage is a testament to the hard work and dedication she has shown throughout her representative career.
