St Peter’s Girls Shine at Invitational School Cup

Last Thursday, St Peters Catholic College Girls Touch Football team competed in the Invitational School Cup—an event that has returned for the first time since 2023 and now features some of the strongest sporting schools in the state. With elite programs such as Westfields, Hunter, Matraville, Narrabeen, and The Hills Sports High Schools all in attendance, the standard of competition was exceptionally high.

Despite being one of the few non-sport specialist schools invited, the girls not only rose to the challenge—they set the benchmark.

Across the day, the team produced a remarkable series of performances:

  • Defeated Narrabeen Sports High 4–1
  • Defeated Hunter Sports High 3–2
  • Defeated Hills Sports High 7–2
  • Defeated Matraville Sports High 7–3
  • Defeated by Westfields Sports High 5–1
  • Defeated All Saints Maitland 6–4
  • Grand Final: Defeated Westfields Sports High 3–2

To not only compete with, but defeat, some of the most established sporting schools in NSW is an outstanding accomplishment. The resilience, skill, and teamwork displayed throughout the day were a true credit to our players, who continued to lift with every match. Their comeback performance against Westfields in the final—overturning the earlier pool-game loss—was a testament to their growth, belief, and competitive spirit.

It is important to recognise just how impressive this achievement is. St Peter’s is not a sport-specific college, yet the girls stood toe-to-toe with powerhouse programs, showing that hard work, culture, and commitment can rival even the most elite systems.

St Peter’s are incredibly proud of the way the girls represented their school—both on and off the field. Their success reflects not only their athletic ability, but also the strength of the developing programs and the supportive environment at St Peter’s.

Congratulations to all involved on an extraordinary day for the college.
