18 Boys Rugby League Selection Trial

There is no Diocesan trial for 18 Boys Rugby League. It is an online nomination on the csnsw.sport website. Instructions on how to register are available with school sport coordinator. Please note this is for talented U17 and U18 yr olds. Any student who thinks their club/coach won’t let them attend Northern Trials at Smithtown please check before applying.

The team will be selected from the information provided on the online registration. Please be sure to include detailed information regarding position, experience and representative history when registering. To nominate you should meet one of the following:

-Incumbent Australian Schoolboys & U18NSWCCC Representative
-Current SG Ball (and above) player 
-Incumbent Northern Country Representatives & U18 Regional Representative
-Incumbent U18s Diocesan Representative
-Representative experience from the previous two years

The Diocesan Team Manager and Coach will select the team. They will notify Bernadette Duggan or Melissa Lidbury Education Officer for Sport of the successful students. Bernadette/Melissa will forward a copy of the team selected to school sport coordinators as well as progressing the successful students on the website. This will generate an email to parents to register their child for the Northern trials to be held at Smithtown on 31st March 2026.

Diocesan Entries close 20th February 2026. Any students who does not register online by 20th February will NOT be considered for the Diocesan team.

Criteria to Nominate

The registration process to attend Diocesan 16 Boys Rugby League trials is online at the csnsw.sport website. You MUST see your school sport coordinator prior to registering for information and instructions. Please ensure you complete all fields especially playing position and experience. To nominate you should meet one of the following:

  • Incumbent Australian Schoolboys Merit & U15NSWCCC Representative
  • Current Harold Mathews and Andrew Johns player 
  • Incumbent Northern Country Representatives & U15 Regional Representative
  • Incumbent U15s Diocesan Representative
  • Representative experience from the previous two years only

Entries close 11th February 2026. Any students who does not register online by 11th February will NOT be eligible to trial.

Once registered the website will generate an email to your school principal/sport coordinator for them to approve. Your registration must be approved by your school principal before you can attend the trials. Please follow up if this is not done. If you do not meet the criteria/standard for this trial, the sport coordinator/principal will not approve your registration.

Cost: $20 per student to be paid when registering on the csnsw website. Please note this is non refundable. 

Uniform

All students are to play in school sports uniform. Do NOT wear any representative item of uniform. Jersey’s will be provided. All other information can be found once registered and approved for the event.

If you have any questions please direct them to your school sport coordinator.

If you are successful at Diocesan level, Northern trials are being held at Smithtown on 31st March 2026. If you cannot progress to Northern, do not attend this trial.

  • Current club experience from the previous two years ONLY.
  • School Rugby League experience from the previous two years ONLY.

When registering be sure to include detailed information regarding experience and representative history when registering. Also ensure you clearly complete the player position section. All girls should have attended a Katrina Fanning Cup Day (under the NRL banner) prior to attending the Northern Country trials. Girls should be registered with a Rugby League Club and playing tackle.
